Hey guys!

Many greetings from Dublin! Today, I am reporting about my travel and burger experience in the capital city of Ireland which is home to over 1.5 million people.

Last weekend I met with some friends from Germany in the impulsive and creative city of Dublin. Did you know that Dublin is one of the most youthful cities of Europe? It is estimated that 50% of the city’s residents are under-25 years of age. So combined with its vibrant nightlife and huge amount of pubs it is a great destination for young people having a nice weekend trip :).

So coming back to my personal travel experience…

After an exciting and hilarious flight from Manchester (including a huge stag party which made the waiting for a new and this time error-free plain entertaining and less annoying) and some communication problems (Irish people have a quite strong and “getting used to” accent that made me miss my bus station in town) I finally arrived at my cute little hostel called “Egali Hostel“.

The hostel is centrally located and a 15 min walk away from the famous Temple Bar district – the best known area for nightlife including British stag and hen parties 🙂 . It is housed in a recently refurbished Georgian building and its rooms are clean and friendly furnished. Each of us paid 21 Euro per night in a 6 single bed room including our own bathroom, free WIFI and most important: a free basic, but saturating breakfast. Another nice hostel that is more closely located to the Temple Bar district is Abigails Hostel. Some friends stayed there over night and also reported a positive experience.

The first thing we had to discover after our arrival in the evening was – of course – something to eat. On our way through the Temple Bar district we came across some interesting restaurant offers we had to resist.

Finally and luckily, we got a table at the Bad Ass Temple Bar (finding a table for 6 persons without a reservation is quite a challange on a Friday night – so lesson learned: book a table in advance or come earlier than 8pm!). The food of the restaurant was not that bad as the name implies. Fortunately for us, the food and the price-quality ratio were unbeatable. And guess what we ate :). Of course – Burgers.

Almost all of us chose the goats cheese burger with caramelised red onions, rocket, garlic! mayo and chunky chips. And yes, it taste as good as it sounds and looks. While enjoying our delicious burgers we could listen to many famous sing -along-songs played by a really good live band. The whole bar was singing and shouting as the band played classics of rock music – goose-bumps feeling!

On the next day we visited several sight-seeing hot spots like the Saint Patrick’s Cathedral and Irish Houses of Parliament.

… until we again got hungry and went searching for a nice place to eat 🙂 .

We found a beautiful restaurant and bar called “The Church“. Here we had lunch in the former St. Mary’s Church of Ireland that was built in the beginning of the 18th century. The restaurant serves traditional Irish dishes and transforms into a night club in the evening that offers a perfect ambience for girl’s night outs and hen parties 🙂 .

Although the night club was very tempting for our evening program we decided to go to one of my favourite destinations in Dublin: The Porterhouse Temple Bar. Ireland’s first brew pub serves delicious beer which is so tasty and of high quality that the pub won twice a gold medal at the world’s most prestigious international brewing industry award (it is the brewing Oscars). But not just the drinks are amazing. Also the pub atmosphere is outstanding due to great live bands and a unique furnishing – on the walls of the pub are cabinets that contain thousands of beer bottles from all over the world. Cool! Don’t you think?!

I hope you enjoyed reading my second blog post about my experiences in Dublin! Now I would like to know which places you like the most in this exciting city 🙂 . Please feel free to like or add some further sight-seeing or restaurant recommendatios if you have already been at this amazing place!

See you soon!

Cheers

Pia

  1. Absolutely love this post about Dublin, being from Ireland myself 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪 you portrayed the vibrant city in a very beautiful way and of course the burger looked great too😜. Looking forwards to reading more of your burger adventures but as for me this will always be my favourite post. Go raibh maith agat, Pia.
